HGV Technician – Northallerton (DL6)

Main Dealer – Modern Equipment & Fast-Paced Workshop

Salary: £47,500 – £52,500
Shift Pattern: Daytime
Location: Northallerton

A busy and highly regarded main dealer in Northallerton is looking to strengthen its workshop team with the addition of an experienced HGV Technician. This opportunity offers the chance to work within a professional, well-structured dealership environment where modern equipment, strong technical support, and a consistent workload allow technicians to thrive and develop their expertise.

You will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repair work across a wide range of heavy commercial vehicles. The role involves diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults, completing preventative maintenance tasks, and ensuring vehicles are prepared and compliant for inspections and operational use. Working within a fast-moving dealership setting, you will be expected to maintain high productivity levels while delivering exceptional workmanship and attention to detail.

The workshop is equipped with up-to-date diagnostic technology and specialist tools designed to help technicians efficiently identify and resolve issues. The company places a strong emphasis on staff development, offering ongoing training and clear progression opportunities for technicians looking to expand their technical capabilities or move into senior positions over time.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 in HGV Maintenance and Repair
  • Previous experience within a main dealer or high-volume workshop environment preferred
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and fault-finding ability
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality standards
  • Reliable, motivated, and capable of working both independently and within a team
